The first Zanasi Group Sustainability Report

Zanasi Group‘s first sustainability report provides an in-depth view of the effort made to achieve a more sustainable future, examining in detail the solutions adopted by the company in three different areas, namely governance, the environment, and social issues. The report contains thorough descriptions of the mutually beneficial activities undertaken in 2022, together with the goals we intend to achieve over the coming years. In short, it highlights our group’s multidimensional approach to sustainability and its solid, measurable commitment in areas ranging from governance to proactive environmental management, through support and development concerning social conditions experienced both inside and outside the company. Let’s take a closer look!

The route charted by Zanasi Group

Zanasi Group has always organised community-oriented social initiatives, making significant investments in this area, and fosters inclusiveness inside the company and out. Over the years, this dedication has had positive impacts on people and the environment and has led to the development of strong, lasting relationships with local communities.

It is an ongoing challenge and a concrete commitment towards a more sustainable future. With these words Stefano Levoni Bemposti (CEO of Zanasi Group) introduced the report:

“To pre-empt change, to face all the new challenges that arise with enthusiasm, to keep abreast of developments, and to respond to our innate social sensitivity, these are the reasons why we prepared our first Sustainability Report, two years ahead of the legal requirement to do so, which will come into force in 2025″.

From the analysis carried out, our mutually beneficial goals clearly have much in common with some of the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) which have been carefully selected, including: education and quality (4), clean, sustainable energy (7), decent work and economic growth (8), business innovation and infrastructure (9), responsible consumption and production (12), peace, justice, and strong institutions (16), partnerships for the goals (17).

Since it has committed to sustainability, Zanasi Group has gathered masses of data which has enabled it to identify areas where significant improvements are possible.

Governance: economic sustainability, ethics, and business integrity

Governance in Zanasi Group is based on economic sustainability, ethics (a transparent, responsible, and inclusive working environment) and business integrity. Every day, the company works actively to maintain:

  • a strong reputation through effective communication with all its stakeholders;
  • an internal ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Committee;
  • a code of ethics;
  • a constant analysis of the supply chain to ensure sustainable practices.

The environment: strategies and initiatives adopted to foster environmental sustainability

The Zanasi Group sustainability report provides detailed insights into the company’s environmental commitment, highlighting the strategies and all the initiatives adopted in 2022; these achievements range from substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions to responsible management of natural resources with minimal impact on biodiversity in the regions where it operates.

The document shows a significant reduction in the group’s carbon footprint – as required by Scope 1 and 2 of the GHG Protocol – through carefully planned investments aimed at cutting down greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. According to forecasts, photovoltaic systems will be installed on the plants as early as 2024 to reach the total 1000 kWp required, thereby reducing Scope 2 emissions by 10%; a technology investment programme is also in place to further reduce Scope 1 emissions.

As regards the use of non-renewable materials for its painting and bodywork activities, meanwhile, the group is committed to responsibly managing the waste produced from these processes. This includes working with reliable waste disposal partners, which minimises the amount of waste sent to landfill.

The social aspect: Zanasi Group’s commitment to the wellbeing of its employees and local communities

Another pillar of Zanasi Group’s sustainability strategy consists of the social dimensions of its operations. The company is committed to developing its employees’ skills through targeted training courses and also offers a series of wellbeing incentives.

The group’s social commitment extends beyond company boundaries through support for local and community initiatives, for cultural and sporting events, and for local athletes. In terms of worker safety, meanwhile, Zanasi Group adopts a management system that includes risk assessments, prevention and protection measures, worker training, and continuous monitoring of working conditions.
